Then, just a few weeks later, Volume 2 will arrive on July 24, 2025, with the remaining 5 episodes, making it a total of 11 episodes for the season. Quick Recap: What Happened in Season 1?
Season 1 of The Sandman introduces us to Dream, also known as Morpheus, the powerful ruler of the Dreaming, a realm where all dreams and nightmares exist. The story begins when Dream is captured by a mortal wizard during an occult ritual meant to trap Death. Instead, they mistakenly imprison Dream for over a hundred years. While he is trapped, chaos spreads across both the waking world and the Dreaming. People suffer from strange sleep disorders, and Dream’s realm falls apart.
When Dream finally escapes, he begins a long journey to reclaim his tools of power, a helm, a pouch of sand, and a ruby, which were stolen and scattered across different hands. Along the way, he meets humans, battles demons, and even faces Lucifer in Hell to retrieve a stolen tool.
Dream also crosses paths with other members of his family known as The Endless, including Death, Desire, and Despair. He learns valuable lessons about responsibility, change, and compassion.
One of the major storylines involves The Corinthian, a rogue nightmare who has escaped into the real world and become a serial killer. Dream eventually confronts and defeats him. By the end of Season 1, Dream has restored order to the Dreaming, but new threats begin to emerge. Desire is revealed to be secretly plotting against him, and Lucifer hints at plans to challenge Dream in the future. Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger, setting up a darker and more complex story for Season 2.
